Biz in a Box (BIB) is a dedicated service for anyone starting a business. We have everything you need to help you get your business up and running in the shortest possible time.

WHAT DO I GET FOR MY MONEY?

The beauty of BIB is that you get everything you need and nothing you don’t. So, you start off with your Basic Package, then pick from the list of add-on services to build up your tailor-made solution.

CAN I JUST GO TO AN ACCOUNTANT?

Going to an accountant isn’t a bad place to start. The trouble is you’ll get some of the information you need, but not all of it. If he’s any good he will then say ‘right, now you need to go to a bank manager’. If he’s really good he might say ‘…and then an insurance broker, an HR specialist, a solicitor, a sign writer, a web developer, a graphic designer, telecoms people…’

The problem is he may say nothing at all and leave you to figure it out for yourself. Either way, you have to do all the running about.

WHAT SORT OF RECORDS DO I NEED TO KEEP?

The records you keep will depend on many factors, such as the size and complexity of the operation, the structure of the business, and who you are reporting to. You will be fully advised on this as part of your BIB package.

HOW DO I KNOW I’M GETTING THE RIGHT ADVICE?

There’s no substitute for experience, and between them Gill and Mathew have advised just about every type of business, both in start-up form and further along the business cycle. What’s more, they’ve started a number of ventures themselves, so everything on this website has been developed from first hand experience.

WHAT IF THERE’S A SERVICE I NEED THAT ISN’T ON THE WEBSITE?

We like to think we’ve got everything covered, but if there’s something we’ve missed just call or drop us a line and we’ll happily source a service provider for you.

DO I NEED A BUSINESS PLAN?

A business plan isn’t essential, but highly recommended. It’s a bit like going for a drive: if you know how to get there you don’t need a map, but if it’s unfamiliar territory, you can follow the path laid out for you, or take your chances and run the risk of getting lost. A business plan is like a roadmap for your business.

HOW DO I OPEN A BUSINESS BANK ACCOUNT?

Opening a bank account is one of the key elements in your Basic Package. You give us the information and we will get the bank to contact you.

DO I NEED TO BE VAT REGISTERED?

Again, the answer to this will depend on a number of factors and will be covered in full by your BIB adviser.

HOW DO I KEEP OUT OF TROUBLE WITH THE TAXMAN?

The most important thing to do is get everything set up with HMRC from day one. This will be taken care of as part of your basic BIB package.
